Center Moriches Youth and Government Goes To Albany

The Youth and Government program of Center Moriches High School participated in the 2017 NYS YMCA Conference at the New York State capital on March 10-12, 2017.
Over 650 students from all parts of the state converged on Albany to present bills in the NYS Assembly chamber and in the chamber of NYS Senate.
At the conference our students represented the school well, as most of our bills ranked in the top ten in their respective chambers.
HS Junior, Carlos Rodriguez got a nomination for “Best Debater” in the Senate, and HS Seniors Gabrielle Vaillant, Sarah Smelko and Sean Barcley had their bill nominated for best bill in the Assembly.
This was a challenging, highly charged and beneficial educational activity which will never be forgotten by those who participated.
