Remote Learning Day - February 23, 2026
Good Afternoon Center Moriches Families,
Due to the forecasted winter weather conditions and in the interest of student and staff safety, the Center Moriches School District will implement a Remote Learning Day on Monday, February 23, 2026 rather than a traditional snow day.
On this day, students will engage in learning from home. Students are expected to complete all assignments to demonstrate participation and remain current with their learning in each class. The remote model that will be followed for each school is outlined below:
Grades K-5
Students and families at Clayton Huey will receive information and assignments from classroom teachers via Parent Square. Teachers will be available for support through their Google Meet link according to the attached elementary schedule. This link is being shared by your child’s classroom teacher through Parent Square and/or Google Classroom. Teachers will also be available during normal school hours via email, Parent or Google Classroom to support students.
Grades 6-12
Students in grades 6-12 will log in to their Google Classrooms for each of their scheduled classes and complete assignments posted by their teachers. Teachers will be available during normal school hours via email and Google Classroom to support students. Support will be available by teachers on their Google Meet link according to the attached secondary schedule. This link is being shared on each teacher’s Google Classroom. Your child should follow their B-day schedule for this remote learning day.
The decision to utilize a Remote Learning Day allows us to maintain continuity of instruction while avoiding the need to further impact our approved calendar for families. Most importantly, it keeps our students and staff safe by reducing travel during potentially hazardous conditions.
We appreciate your continued flexibility and partnership as we navigate winter weather together. Please continue to monitor district communications for any additional updates, and do not hesitate to contact your school if you have questions or need support.
Thank you for your cooperation and continued support of our schools. Please be safe.
Sincerely,
Dr. Ricardo Soto, Superintendent
