Art students from Center Moriches recently received the opportunity to showcase their work at two prestigious Long Island art galleries: the Long Island Media Arts Show (LIMAS), and the Colors of Long Island Student Art Exhibition.
 
“We are so proud of our talented student artists,” said Marissa Mangogna, Center Moriches High School principal. “Their commitment and creativity continue to grow and I am confident that they will continue to carry this love of art with them wherever their future takes them.”
 
Students Molly Hart and Mateo Silva Villalone were featured in the Colors of Long Island Exhibition, a selective showcase that only showcases two pieces of artwork per school. The exhibit was on display at the Long Island Museum from February 19 to April 12. The theme, Colors of Long Island, encouraged students to display not only the natural beauty of Long Island, but the cultural diversity of their communities through various artistic mediums.
 
Mateo Silva Villalone was also featured in the Long Island Media Arts Show, alongside three other Center Moriches students: Ever Hernandez, Lux Coppola, and Nora Devaux. A panel of jurors selected these four students’ pieces—in the categories of film, photography, 2D digital art, animation, and game design—to be shown at their Educational Conference and Juried Exhibition at Five Towns College this spring. During the conference, students had their works featured, toured Five Towns College,
and attended workshops, demonstrations, and panel discussions with industry professionals. 
 
“The accomplishments of these Center Moriches students stand as a testament to the strength of our district’s art program.” said Dr. Ricardo Soto, Superintendent of Schools. “We consistently strive to prioritize the arts as part of a well-rounded education, and this is proof that we are succeeding at that mission.”
