A Message from the Superintendent of Schools

Dear Parents and Community Members,

This morning, the Center Moriches school community came together to mark the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, a day that changed the course of our nation's history and touched families across our own District. Students and staff paused for a moment of silence across all three of our buildings, acknowledging the four strikes at 8:46 a.m., 9:03 a.m., 9:37 a.m., and 10:02 a.m. that unfolded that tragic morning, while various classrooms conducted learning activities. 

We honored the 2,977 lives lost during the attacks, and we held in our hearts the thousands more who have since passed away from their exposure that day. We paid respects to the first responders who ran toward danger without hesitation, and to the passengers and crew whose bravery we continue to remember.

Our District remains dedicated to honoring this legacy, not only through moments of reflection like today's, but through the values of unity, compassion, and resilience we strive to instill in our students every day. Thank you to everyone who paused to remember with us this morning.
