Center Moriches Homecoming Schedule & Weather Contingency Overview

Dear Parents and Community Members, 

As we approach one of the most anticipated highlights of the school year, I want to warmly welcome all of our families, students, staff, and community members to this year's Homecoming celebrations. Homecoming is a cherished tradition in Center Moriches, a wonderful opportunity to gather, celebrate our shared spirit, and display our immense Center Moriches Pride.

While we eagerly anticipate all planned festivities, we are actively monitoring local weather forecasts to ensure every event is conducted safely and smoothly. To keep our community fully informed, we have established clear guidelines for events proceeding as scheduled, as well as our official weather contingency measures.

All outdoor athletic games will proceed as scheduled unless they are changed to different times to avoid anticipated severe weather or postponed by Section XI due to unsafe playing conditions. Our Pep Rallies & Hallway Decorating will continue as scheduled regardless of outdoor weather conditions.

In the event of heavy rain and strong winds, the homecoming parade will be canceled. As weather conditions may change, a final decision will be rendered on the morning of the event, with formal communication distributed shortly thereafter. If weather conditions remain mild, we will implement an abridged parade route starting at the east end of the Clayton Huey parking lot (adjacent to the funeral home), marching down Main Street, turning onto Brookfield Avenue, and concluding at the High School. In cases of torrential rain or high winds, the outdoor parade will be canceled; students will be offered the option to showcase their floats at the High School and around the track on Saturday, September 26 prior to and at halftime of the 1:00 PM football game (weather permitting) or at the 6:30 PM football game on October 2, 2026.

Regarding the bonfire, because municipal permits are required, we may need to cancel the event if high winds are forecast. 

Executing a memorable and safe Homecoming celebration requires substantial teamwork. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to our district staff, families, security team, and local community partners for their dedicated support, ongoing flexibility, and collaboration. Together, we look forward to a vibrant and spirited Homecoming experience for all our students.
