CMHS Seniors Take Next Steps Toward College and Career Readiness

Posted Date: 10/31/26 (12:30 PM)

Center Moriches High School seniors took an exciting step toward their post-secondary futures this past Wednesday during a campus tour of Stony Brook University. The visit offered students an immersive look at higher education, helping them envision campus life and explore degree paths at a major research university right here on Long Island.

The Stony Brook trip was part of a busy week focused on post-secondary planning, which also featured the high school's annual Fall College Fair and several college rep visits to our secondary campus. Throughout the week, students engaged with representatives and gathered valuable resources to help guide their options after graduation.

To directly support students taking the next step in the application process, our school counselors have been holding dedicated appointment slots during periods 3, 4, and 5, to assist students in taking advantage of SUNY's Free Application Week.

This coming Monday, November 2nd, is the final day these application assistance appointments will be offered, and seniors are encouraged to schedule time with their counselor.

The Guidance Department is keeping things going with a schedule of upcoming college representative visits to our high school. Here is a look at next week's schedule:
  • Monday, 11/2: SUNY Oneonta
  • Wednesday, 11/4: Stony Brook University
  • Wednesday, 11/4: Wagner College
  • Friday, 11/6: Bryant University
Looking further ahead, seniors will have the opportunity to take another off-campus trip with a scheduled campus tour of SUNY Old Westbury on Monday, December 7th. Additionally, on Friday, January 15th, an admissions representative from Suffolk County Community College will visit campus to conduct on-site admissions interviews for interested seniors.
